NEW LEADERSHIP AT REINGOLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
ANNA HILL NAMED INTERIM PRINCIPAL
Anna Hill has spent the last two years at Reingold Elementary School as an assistant principal, learning under the guidance of former principal Justin Sparks.
Now, Hill is in charge after being named the interim principal for the 2023-2024 school year.
“I’m excited at the opportunity to continue serving here at Reingold,” Hill said. “I’ve spent the last two years forming relationships with families, students and teachers, so I want to keep building on that. I’ve had the summer to make plans and try to get things strategically aligned. This summer has been a luxury to really set things up for success and have a good start to the school year.”
Hill says that Sparks was a great mentor and involved her in “every step of the process of administering a school.”
She added: “I feel like I’ve seen a little bit of everything over the past few years in the assistant principal role. I’m ready to take all the good that has been done and grow from there."
Former Reingold math coach, Sara Hopkins, will serve as Hill’s assistant principal.
Reingold families don’t have to worry about much changing to start the school year, said Hill.
“I firmly believe that you don’t fix what’s not broken,” she said. “We’re going to keep what’s working well and then simply refine what isn't.”
Hill graduated from UMass Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Fitchburg State University.
Before taking over as assistant principal at Reingold in 2021, Hill worked in the Dudley-Charlton Regional school district in various roles, including team leader, mentor coordinator and teacher. She also started her teaching career at Ayer Middle School in 2000.
“I’ve been in education for 23 years, even though I’m relatively new to the administration role,” Hill said. “Education itself is not new to me. I spent 21 years in the classroom before making this switch, so I haven’t forgotten what it’s like. I’m still a teacher at heart as I take on the role of administrator. I’m a life-long learner – I love being around teaching and learning – that’s part of why I went into this profession. I hope that love of learning passes to the students and their families throughout the school year.”
What should families, students and teachers expect from Hill in her new interim principal role?
“l want to be approachable,” she said. “I want staff, students, parents and advocates to be able to come to me when issues are small so we can problem solve together before anything gets bigger and harder to manage. I want to be proactive and get out ahead of things. I look forward to building partnerships and working on behalf of kids. I’m sure there will be stumbling blocks along the way, but together we can make good things happen.”
